The Chattanooga African American Museum will host a Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit, "The Dancer Within," from June 23rd through August 15th.
Rennie Harris's Students of the Asphalt Jungle The Dancer Within is a photographic display by nationally-acclaimed photo-journalist, Rose Eichenbaum. This exhibit captures the character and vitality of nearly 50 of the world's greatest dancers, including The American Ballerina, Cynthia Gregory; Tony Award winner and acclaimed actor and singer, Ben Vereen; the Spanish Dane Legend Jose Greco; and Goddess of Broadway, Chita Rivera.
The Dancer Within Tour began in Ypsilanti, Michigan, in April 2008. Chattanooga will become the second stop for this 10-city tour.
Visitors can tour The Dancer Within, as well as many other stimulating exhibits, at the Chattanooga African American Museum, Monday through Friday, from 10am-5pm, or on Saturdays, from noon to 4pm.
Admission: $5/pp, $3/senior citizens and students, or $2/children ages 6-12. Children ages 5 and under are free.
